Position Description:

Position Summary:
Manage commodities related to electronic and/or mechanical nature, striving to improve flow from the suppliers in order to meet customer needs and reduce material cost to improve bottom line.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
• Analyze commodity related data to generate strategy and action plan to improve company financial position through the improvement of favorable purchase price variance.
• Generate cost savings projects related to direct or indirect materials or services.
• Coordinate the implementation of cost reduction projects with buyers, engineers, operations and other functions as needed.
• Coordinate with external entities such as suppliers, other divisions, and corporate personnel, as needed, to assure smooth implementation of initiatives.
• Lead commodity strategy teams that are challenged with identifying and developing a World Class Supply Base that will support manufacturing strategies, and Product Roadmaps.
• Act as liaison with appropriate counsel in developing Global supply agreements to ensure protection of Intellectual Property using non-disclosure or equivalent confidentiality agreement.
• Develop and maintain long-term supplier relationships that will deliver competitive advantages including lowest total cost, highest quality products, and superior customer service.
• Maintain Commodity schedule alignment to product development timelines to ensure reduced time to market with new products.
• Remain current with industry supply trends. Use trend data to forecast material availability and price fluctuations. Present data and recommendations to the Management Team
• Communicate direction, and lead negotiations with all levels of supplier management to develop and deploy appropriate strategies, contracts, and business relationships that satisfy current and future business needs.
• Establishing supplier owned and managed inventory to support inventory reduction goals.
• Continually monitor and manage supplier performance using the supplier resource manager database. Collaborate with suppliers to improve on time delivery, quality, cost and customer service metrics.
• Audit supplier facilities and submit corrective action requests to poor performing suppliers as needed.
