Furnace Operator

Position Description

The Vacuum Furnace Operator is responsible for programming, operating and maintaining vacuum and thermal furnaces used for brazing and heat treatment of engine components while ensuring compliance with customer specifications and proper furnace operating procedures.

Essential Functions:

• Reviews documentation to identify parts, determine temperature and load requirements.
• Identifies and consolidates parts with the same processing requirements
• Inspects furnace systems to ensure proper operations.
• Loads furnace according to load charts; sets controls and monitors computerized Data System
• Controls argon flow to achieve proper levels throughout the heat treat process.
• Maintains proper vacuum level and temperature during cycle.
• Maintains heat treat equipment, completes minor repairs and assists maintenance with major equipment problems
Position Requirements

 Minimum three years ‘experience with the programming, operation and maintenance of vacuum furnaces in a production environment.

 Experienced working with aerospace or power generation industry specifications.

 High School Diploma or equivalent.

 Ability to read and follow complex specifications and Process Control Procedures, perform arithmetic calculations and follow written instructions.
