ISR Systems Segment is one of three L3 business segments, and provides a broad range of aerospace systems, security and detection systems, and pilot training.

The Field Engineer 3 HVAC position involves complete control over specialized air conditioning equipment built to support the RC-135 aircraft. The equipment currently involves CAT air conditioning carts, liquid cooling carts, diesel-driven CAT generators, diesel-driven aircraft power generators, and has the likelihood of adding more equipment based on need.
This position may require travel based upon dynamic operational needs. The equipment is currently deployed worldwide, and with that comes extreme weather conditions and demand for the equipment to operate at its peak.

The responsibilities are to perform preventative maintenance of both the cooling carts and generators to include:

Routine A/C filter changes

*

Routine engine oil changes, fuel filter changes, and basic engine upkeep

*

Equipment maintenance, upkeep, and inspections

*

Duties also include:

*

Troubleshoot, repair, and replace failed components on systems in a timely fashion to support aircraft missions

*

Maintain accurate logs, trend problems, and anticipate future needs based on past histories

*

Training crews on proper operation of cooling carts and generators

*

Monitor/evaluate equipment performance with a laptop computer via interface software

*

Maintain sufficient supplies to carry out anticipated/scheduled maintenance

*

Reconfigure/modify equipment as required using maintenance bulletins.

Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of five (5) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to work alone, often being the only source for troubleshooting and repairs

*

Knowledgeable in all aspects of refrigeration evacuating/recharging and procedures therein

*

Familiar with refrigeration soldering/brazing using an Oxy/Acetylene torch

*

Electrical knowledge of voltages up to 480VAC 60Hz along with control voltages up to 24VDC

*

Completion of a technical training in: Theory of refrigeration, Diesel Engines, or auto mechanic repairs

*

Knowledge in variable frequency motor drives (Preferred)

*

EPA Universal Refrigeration certificate (Preferred)

*

Welding/ Brazing experience (Preferred)

*

Must be able to climb ladders and lift 50 lbs

Position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Security Clearance, which requires U.S. Citizenship.
