Position Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for ensuring all maintenance and plant activities are completed in a timely manner, within plan and budget. Maintains the function and reliability of all building and production equipment and infrastructure. Provides leadership and direction to impacted personnel. Ensures all projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with the organization’s goals while ensuring safety, regulatory, and quality standards are met, understood, and followed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervise, direct, and execute all activities involving plant maintenance and construction projects including design, layout, and specification of equipment and materials.

Maintain the facility including janitorial duties, facility updates, regular building maintenance and preventative maintenance, and miscellaneous repairs. This applies to (and is not limited to): all buildings, grounds, and manufacturing equipment.

Assist with the maintenance and repair of existing product equipment as needed.

Maintain all documentation including preventative maintenance procedures and equipment specification storage and retrieval systems as needed.

Manages various third-party facility services, such as janitorial, security, roadway maintenance, landscaping, and waste disposal.

Ensures division compliance with all safety, OSHA, and other State and Federal safety regulations in collaboration with Safety leadership.

Assures conformance to all applicable local and state codes and licenses and supports EHS activities as needed.

Manages and/or executes all projects relating to facilities installations and overhauls including preparation of justification and expense reports, soliciting contract bids, and expediting satisfactory completion of all work. Negotiates and administers contracts with outside service vendors and contractors.

Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work environment including company/work vehicles.

Manages all hazardous waste handling activities throughout the facility. Insures the proper distribution, storage, and disposal of all hazardous materials at the site by complying with applicable State and Federal regulations. Insures the proper training of all personnel involved in the management of hazardous waste at the site and maintains logs, manifests, inspection reports, training records, contingency plans, etc. Acts as primary emergency coordinator for any emergencies involving releases of hazardous materials.

Keep current on all training, communications, and overall requirements of OSHA, State, and Federal law as related to facility safety and maintenance.

Position Requirements:

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

High School diploma or trade school certificate required.

Associates degree or Advanced Education in Technical Field preferred.

5-7 years’ related experience within a manufacturing environment required; supervisory experience preferred.

Broad knowledge of engineering principles and techniques as applied to plant layout and maintenance of machines and equipment and the design, development, and implementation of efficient operating facilities and services a must.

General knowledge of plumbing, painting, welding, and carpentry required.

Working electrical knowledge required; certification preferred.

Must be experienced Forklift Operator.

Additional Characteristics:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to perform various physical duties such as using hands, reaching, standing, crouching, sitting, climbing; as well as regularly lifting and moving objects up to 50 lbs.

Ability to hear and see clearly required to maintain personal and facility safety.

Employee is exposed to a typical manufacturing environment. The noise level is moderate, with exposure to shop elements.

Must have flexible availability for weekends, projects, and on-call emergencies.
