FAA Engineer

Job Description

Job Summary & Essential Functions:

The FAA Engineer will be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for FAA requirements for the Appleton Performance Center. In addition to FAA responsibilities, provide Engineering support duties to include Manufacturing, Process or Quality Engineering including:

* Interface with customers on FAA requirements and engineering matters
* Collaborate with sales, purchasing, production, quoting and contract management to establish procedures for meeting customer requirements.
* Provide support to manufacturing including root cause analysis and corrective and preventive actions to resolve problems in product manufactured.
* Analyze existing operations and propose cost-justified improvements
* Adhere to General Requirements of Team Members
* Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in their work area.
* Perform other assignments as required

Skills & Qualifications

Required Experience/Education/Training/Certifications:

* 4-year technical degree in engineering field required
* Demonstrated aerospace electronics manufacturing experience (with an OEM or CM)
* FAA Certified DMIR or 3-5 years experience with a PAH or PMA of aerospace electronics with the ability to become an FAA Certified DMIR (based on experience)

Required Skills & Qualifications:

* Professional knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes together with work measurement and work standards
* Proficient in technical writing, good documentation skills; attention to detail is critical
* Required: able to read and interpret engineering drawings
* Prior experience with an ISO 9001, AS9100, and ISO 13485 environment required
* Demonstrated analytical expertise including ability to plan, resolve problems effectively, and establish priorities
* Understanding of DOE, 6-Sigma, Lean Manufacturing required
* Working knowledge at an intermediate level of computer skills in e-mail, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Microsoft Project
* Demonstrated ability to communicate with customers and project company image to attract business
* Negotiation and conflict management skills; together with demonstrated experience troubleshooting and problem-solving
