Job Role:
F-35 WIPT Base and Ship Suitability Engineer. This senior technical analyst, as a member of the Weapons Integration Product Team (WIPT), supports F-35 Base and Ship Suitability. The successful applicant will be responsible for activities related to Navy Weapons Supportability and Integration. This position is located in Virginia.
Essential Job Functions:
Evaluates and provides input to the Weapons Supportability Team Lead on the contractor’s weapons system concepts and design for F-35 series aircraft, sea, and land based logistics suitability, maintainability, and operational effectiveness.
Evaluates and provides input to feasibility of systems support concepts and accesses their potential impacts on system design, sea, and land based military operations, training, and containment.
Focus areas include:
Evaluating contractor’s weapons systems concepts and designs and evaluates suitability in support of F-35B/C sea and F-35A/B/C shore based operations.
Evaluating technical and engineering data for incorporation into Joint Technical Data (JTD).
Advising on the development and fielding of F-35 Peculiar Support Equipment and Armament Weapons Support Equipment (AWSE) that will be used afloat and ashore.
Serve as Naval advisor on Suspension and Release Equipment, Aircraft Gun System, Alternate Mission Equipment, Weapons Loading, Autonomic Logistics, AWSE, and shipboard suitability of F-35B and F-35C variants.
Required Skills:
Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
High school diploma plus 16 years of relevant experience required. Will also consider an Associates degree plus 10 years, a Bachelors degree plus 8 years relevant experience.
Must be able to obtain and maintain program security clearances.
Relative, practical experience in weapons and systems test, experience with determinations of operational suitability, maintainability and effectiveness especially in the shipboard environment.
Travel will be required.
