SUMMARY The Quote Engineer has primary responsibility for development, execution, tracking and communicating quoting activities. The ideal candidate will have a thorough knowledge and working background in Mechanical / Manufacturing / Electrical Engineering and component level technical requirements and have excellent customer service skills. The Quote Engineer must be a problem solver. They must use their Engineering knowledge to ensure the product is quoted for maximum production efficiency, as well to ensure that critical Customer related requirements are appropriately identified. They must be able to communicate with cross functional personnel and management with equal effectiveness and professionalism. Candidates must have a 4 year Engineering degree, excellent communications skills, be metric driven, show high initiative, be self-motivated and have the ability to act independently to resolve issues on technical matters. Must be skilled in MS Office applications, have experience with generating design documentation, provide cost and schedule estimates and participate in teams. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Interacts with Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Program Management, Production and Component Suppliers. Identifies equipment, labor, raw material, purchased components, packaging and other requirements needed to produce an accurate quoting package. Works independently to gather data and input on the development of product quotes or adaptations of existing quotes. Secures vendor pricing and/or applies standard cost factors (as applicable) to determine price of material and components. Review internal and customer supplied documentation for accuracy and completeness, considering manufacturing processes and capabilities. Interface with external customers in order to obtain appropriate specifications. Generate full turnkey quotations, including labor, material costs and lead times. Work directly with customers to understand their processes and develop the best solutions for their requirements. Work with our sales team to professionally represent the company at a customer, gather data, and ask the right questions to define a project. Work with the engineers and designers to develop and quote cost effective solutions. Recognize and understand the customer’s needs, make suggestions for possible solutions, and quickly develop budgetary numbers. Accuracy is essential. Cost analysis and estimating. May be asked to perform other duties within Engineering at a lower level or higher level of proficiency or not related to this classification on occasions. All other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and or EXPERIENCE Bachelor of Arts degree BA or Bachelor of Science degree BS from four year college or university; or eight years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, methods, and is disciplined in their application. Minimum of two years of experience in the Engineering area. Outstanding performance as an Associate Engineer.
