Overview:

Designs and plans layout for such activities as machining, metal forming, plastics processing, welding and brazing, assembly, and materials handling. Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions. Plans for the arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout. Plans sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance. May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan. Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality. Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control, and may develop those techniques. Provides guidance to Engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.

Responsibilities:

Position requires extensive knowledge of the aerospace industry, specifically assembly of aircraft structures and systems. Create and develop the initial manufacturing plan for your area of responsibility including the layout and scheme for such activities as materials handling, subassembly, assembly, and major item join and installation of aircraft systems. Plan the sequence of assembly operations and collaborate with outside suppliers for tool design and factory process development and integration. Provide guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specifications to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques. Assist the change board by performing impact analysis of change packages including written statements of work and estimates. Support IPT commodity managers to achieve program performance targets for cost and schedule.

The successful candidate will typically have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 6 years related experience. Experience working start-up programs is preferred. Candidate must have strong computer skills and experience using Enovia, Catia V5, Excel, PowerPoint and MS Project. SAP experience is a plus.
