Overview:

Design engineer on existing or new development program. Designs, researches and develops structural engineering layouts, components and assemblies involving metals, non-metallic or composite structural materials for product design, or operation of product to include structures, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronics, power plant, armament, heating and ventilating, equipment and maintenance designs. Develops and maintains engineering bills of material and product structures. Coordinates the inputs of a variety of disciplines including stress, manufacturing engineering and product support to ensure all engineering requirements are incorporated into the design. Specific design engineering specialties may include airframe, mechanisms and subsystems installations. Tools utilized include CATIA and Enovia.

Responsibilities:

Frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques. Provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity. Works under general supervision. Follows established procedures. Work is reviewed for soundness of technical judgment, overall adequacy and accuracy. Contributes to the completion of milestones associated with specific projects. Failure to achieve results or erroneous decisions or recommendations may cause delays in program schedules and may result in the allocation of additional resources. Primarily internal company contacts. Infrequent inter-organizational and outside customer contracts on routine matters.

The successful candidate will typically have an engineering bachelor’s degree and three years of related experience that preferably includes the design of major structures. Experience with CATIA V5 and/or Enovia and good communication skills are essential. Must have excellent computer skills and a familiarity with Microsoft Office products.
