Moog Space & Defense in Kingsport, TN is looking for an ambitious, detail oriented, and responsible Part-Time Engineering Assistant to support their Engineering staff. Here’s what you can expect in this role: * Perform various engineering related functions including work associated with electrical and mechanical assemblies, sub-assemblies, and components * Perform basic electrical and mechanical repairs on test equipment * Reviewing and interpreting customer specifications and requirements, including applicable IPC, ANSI, and Military Specifications or Standards * Develop written procedures based on customer requirements and engineering direction * Routine support of engineering staff – coordinate First Article process (Inspection Reports, certification validation, final data package review), data collection/presentation, Inspection Report preparation, equipment/tooling research, ordering indirect materials, Tool Design Orders, Outsource Notices, Value Stream Maps, Flow Charts * Perform time studies, data analysis and a variety of other tasks in support of Lean Activities and projects * Administrative tasks, such as data entry and computer based activities * Coordination with the office environment as well as colleagues on the factory floor will be required * Daily teamwork activities in a fast paced environment * Gaining experience in Lean, Continuous Improvement and Six Sigma topics Here’s what you will need to be part of the team: * At a minimum, qualified applicants must be currently enrolled in an engineering related field of study (i.e. Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, etc.) * Experience with schematics, blueprints, and related test procedures is a plus * Ability to work with area Engineering to support current and new product lines, as well as working with production floor employees * Strong communication skills, both verbal and written * Strong analytical, technical, and trouble shooting skills * Knowledge and experience in Lean, Continuous Improvement and Six Sigma is a plus You can do this!
