Description

L3 ISR Systems, a recognized leader in aircraft modification and special mission system integration, offers challenging and rewarding assignments across a broad spectrum of aircraft modification programs. ISR Systems has over fifty years of experience providing innovative solutions for major structural modifications to military and commercial aircraft, and has successfully modified over 15,000 aircraft comprised of more than 125 unique aircraft types.

L3 ISR Systems is looking for a Senior Stress Analyst responsible for structural analysis of aircraft modifications, including design support, and preparation of technical documentation necessary to ensure airworthiness. Determination of stress levels in primary and secondary aircraft structure, systems, and equipment resulting from applied and induced loads, as well as the comparison of these stresses with material properties to predict failure and structural instabilities given due consideration to applicable failure theories.

Candidate must be able to generate free body diagrams, determine reaction forces, calculate internal loads, and develop shear and moment diagrams. The candidate should be able to apply the principles of Structural Mechanics to predict internal stresses and structural instabilities. Proficiency with accepted aerospace industry standard classical stress analysis techniques and finite element methods (linear and non-linear). Familiarity with FAA and military aircraft airworthiness certification process and requirements is mandatory.

The Senior Stress Engineer position requires that the candidate is able to support complex aircraft structural modification programs with minimal direction. Must be able to effectively present technical data in written and oral form to Customers and certifying agencies.
