Collins Aerospace is looking for an embedded Software System Designer for our next generation control systems. This individual will be responsible for the software system design of safety critical products, comprised of many modularized software components, designed to DO-178C standards. This position requires a proficiency in developing software for embedded hardware, and the ability to ensure modularized software components, executing in a real-time operating environment, meet the operational requirements of the overall system. This individual will be responsible for the proper implementation of system level features that span multiple software capabilities. This individual will be responsible for coordinating with software verification test leads to ensure that full verification test coverage of software products is achieved.

This Engineer, Software System Designer is for an established Software Engineering professional. An individual in this role will conduct software development activities, conduct testing, debug systems with control and diagnostic capabilities, make recommendations to management on ways to improve cost and quality of software products, implement critical software system capabilities, prepare and present design reviews, and coordinate software development activities across multiple organizations.

Primary Responsibilities:

* Define functional system requirements for software products in embedded control and diagnostic systems
* Utilize Model Based Development to implement high or low level requirements for embedded software products
* Conduct design and implementation efforts for software components designed to DO-178C standards
* Conduct and coordinate software verification testing activities for embedded control and diagnostic systems
* Debug systems with control and diagnostic capabilities
* Make recommendations to management on ways to improve cost and quality of software products
* Design and implement build procedures that are used to support hardware and software product development and function.
* Conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborate with equipment designers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of control and diagnostic systems
* Measure and analyze software designs for equipment/products to ensure current and future needs of the business are met.
* Operates equipment and computer systems for testing and software design purposes to facilitate operations and ensure that established objectives are achieved.
* Determines end user needs by analyzing system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements and input data acquisition.
* Ensures hardware and software standards are met.
* May develop software configuration standards for company-wide use.
* May train software developers in the use of configuration management tools and the implementation of software quality standards.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

* Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution with 3+ years experience or
* High School Diploma (or Equivalent) and 7+ years experience

Education:

* High School Diploma or Equivalent

Preferred Education:

* Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering or related field
