Engineer - Mechanical Intern

Mechanical engineers at L3 have the opportunity to engage in a wide variety of design activities over a broad range of aircraft (both fixed-wing and rotary-wing). Mechanical engineers are responsible for developing designs ranging from the integration of state of the art airborne systems into special mission aircraft to developing specialized aircraft modifications. Engineers utilize 3D parametric CAD, rapid prototyping and other tools in the development of designs and validation of those designs. Engineers will produce technical drawings, procedures and other documents to thoroughly define the design. As an L3 Engineering Intern you may be involved in all phases of the product design, including concept development, detail design, manufacturing and installation on the aircraft.

You will demonstrate success by:
* Design, drafting and liaison of various internal and external aircraft modifications utilizing military and commercial design standards, customer specifications and system requirements documents utilizing 3 dimensional CAD.
* Provide liaison to production and manufacturing for interpretation of engineering design/drawings.
* Conducting engineering drawing preparation and release.

Qualifications
Qualifications:
* Must be enrolled as full time student pursuinga B.S. in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering with minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
*
Must have a minimum of a Junior level standing at an accredited college
* Must have experience with the use of 3D CAD programs to create solid models and 2D detail, assembly, and installation drawings. Experience with CREO (Pro/engineer) preferred.
* Must have strong analytic and communication skills.
* Must have sound knowledge of engineering theory, design criteria and complex activities.
* Must have the ability to motivate others; sound effective listening skills; pays attention to details; ability to work under pressure; and ability to meet deadlines.
* Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance.
* Must be able to work 40 hours per week during the summer 2019.
* Must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings.
