Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking experienced mechanical engineers to work on the design and packaging of a broad range of electronic assemblies for next-generation radar, communication, electro-optical and electronic warfare systems. These individuals will participate as members of cross-discipline engineering teams focused on the design and production of cutting-edge, high-density, high-reliability, ruggedized, precision electronic assemblies.

The selected candidates will perform in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, diverse assignments, and collaborative/team settings. The selected candidates are expected to be self-motivated, highly-organized, detail oriented and possess effective verbal and written communication skills.

This is a dual band position and candidates will be considered for both levels according to the basic qualifications below





Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

* Band 2 - BS in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field with 2 years of engineering design experience, or MS with 0 years of experience

* Band 3 - BS in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field with 5 years of engineering design experience, or MS with 3 years of experience

* Proficiency with 3-D CAD modeling software (such as Siemens NX, CREO/ProE, or Solidworks)

* Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multi-functional integrated product team (IPT) setting

* Strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills

* US Citizen, who is eligible to obtain a DOD security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

* 5+ years of experience in electro-mechanical design and packaging of electronics; particularly ruggedized electronics for use in military applications

* Active DOD Secret clearance or higher

* Proficiency with Siemens NX 3-D CAD software, including management of large assembly models

* Proficiency with ASME Y14.5 geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)

* Familiarity with design and production of printed wiring boards (PWBs), circuit card assemblies (CCAs), interconnects, and cables

* Familiarity with heat transfer and cooling methodologies for electronics

* Familiarity with various military and industry specifications (e.g. VITA, IEEE, SAE, ASTM, etc.) that are relevant to electronics design
