FIXTURE ENGINEER
Job Functions:
• Design- Works with Part/Dimensional, Quality, Facilities/Manufacturing Engineering and Manufacturing Operations teams to develop the specification/design of fixturing/tooling for the manufacturing facility that interface with both the patterns/casting and manufacturing infrastructure.
o Produce fixture design concepts for internal design team or offsite design vendors
o CAD modeling of templates, assembly fixtures, inspection gages, manipulators, and handling fixtures
o Create and/or modify 2D drawings
o Review designs with Engineering, Quality, Safety and Manufacturing teams to validate fit/form/function
o Engage with Manufacturing teams to find solutions to improve fixture ergonomics, safety, and functionality
o Prototype concepts with 3D printing and/or machine shop
• Project Management- manages fixturing/tooling projects with internal and external vendors- including fixture/tooling design and build projects and associated timelines
o Define work scope on Request for Quotation that meet Quality, Engineering, and Safety requirements
o Procurement- works with Vendors, Engineering, Finance, and Purchasing on quotes, approvals, purchase orders, receiving documentation and customer funding.
o Test fixtures in the manufacturing environment, troubleshoot issues, and develop improvements
o Interface smoothly with other departments to develop joint plans for resolving fixture/tooling problems.
o Delegate repairs/modifications to internal Maintenance team or external vendors
o Work directly with multiple teams to successfully achieve varied goals.
o Develop project timetables and send updates to internal customers
o Ensure vendors are meeting delivery dates, and adjust/reprioritize their workload to meet manufacturing needs.
o Establish/qualify new vendors, in conjunction with Purchasing and Quality departments

Qualifications:
1. Requires BS degree in Engineering OR equivalent experience. Mechanical Engineering degree preferred.
2. Knowledge and demonstrated ability in engineering principles and disciplines
3. Experience with manufacturing processes/methods- fabrication/forming, injection molding, machining, and 3D printing
4. Familiarity with CAD software- Solidworks or UG/NX preferred
5. Knowledge and application of GD&T principles
6. Technical report and article preparation, specification preparation
7. Organizational strategies- ability to define, plan and complete major projects
8. Ability to supervise/ direct/ coordinate activities of professionals with diverse expertise
9. Logical and analytic approach to problem solving
10. Excellent communication skills verbal and written. Capable of interacting with various levels of the organization.
11. Demonstrate a high degree of objectivity and integrity in the evaluation of people and problems.
12. Ability to work well with the hourly work force to understand first the request or idea from the operators-then to translate that request into meaningful fixture and tooling improvements that help the operators.
