We are currently searching for a Data Engineer to join our team in Annapolis, MD (IMS INC) (5010). Our Avionics team advances aviation electronics and information management solutions for commercial and military customers across the world. That means we’re helping passengers reach their destination safely. We’re connecting aircraft operators, airports, rail and critical infrastructure with intelligent data service solutions that keep passengers, flight crews and militaries connected and informed. Job Summary

We are looking for a Data Engineer to join our growing Engineering team. The ideal candidate is a hands-on platform builder with experience in developing scalable data platforms. We’re looking for someone with experience in business intelligence, analytics, data science and data products. They must have strong, firsthand technical expertise in big data technologies and configuration management and the proven ability to fashion robust scalable solutions that can manage large data sets. They must be at ease working in an agile environment with little supervision.

Job Responsibilities

* Collaborate cross-functionally with data scientists, business users, project managers and other engineers to achieve elegant solutions.

* Provide recommendations for continuous improvement of the big data platform.

* Work alongside other engineers on the team to elevate technology and consistently apply best practices.

Basic Qualifications

* Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline.

* 1-2 years of experience with data science and programming.

* Experience with modern programming languages like Python/pandas, R, SQL, etc.

* Experience with merging disparate data sources for varying data structures of content.

* Experience with feature generation and feature augmentation, pulling data of varying quality and availability from unstructured formats.

* Ability to manage and manipulate large data sets, develop data science approaches, and manage data science tasks.

* Experience with Scrum/Agile development methodologies.

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

* Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or equivalent experience.

* Capable of delivering on multiple competing priorities with little supervision.
