Data Analyst

Drive a multitude of configurations, baselining, benchmarking and reporting requirements improvements to the Systems Engineering and Development departments by performing trend analysis on configuration variability and customer deployments. Lead and establish tailored business stream identifications for system features/functions within the department as well as within the company. Performs detailed analysis to provide data for business planning within the certification department. Helps determine present and future project status. Gathers, analyzes, prepares and summarizes data to develop and support recommendations for project status, evaluating future requirements, and operating forecasts. Uses predictive modeling, statistics, trend analysis, and other data analysis techniques to collect, explore and identify the right data to support engineering and certification for In-Flight Entertainment (IFE) systems. Preparing/providing/ coordinating technical documentation.

Major Duties

Database Automation

* Obtain and consolidate information from different groups into one central database for real time project management of Engineering Certification deliverables.
* Reporting and managing projects
* Utilize project database to track and report project status.
* Maintain project schedule database for various technical data deliverables
* Automate process for electronic reminders and reporting to meet on-time delivery milestones.
* Provide trend analysis and data pattern on engineering performance and on-time delivery dates

* Develop and analyze engineering database
* Automatic extraction of pertinent information from source files for reporting purposes.
* Create and maintain database for engineering teams.

* Gathering and managing technical input from various teams
* Automate, create and maintain department intranet website used for form creation and technical reporting for Systems Engineering groups.

* Provide status to project management and program management on engineering and certification department
* Will support task assignments, scheduling (using MS Project) and negotiation with Project and Program Management for document delivery dates
* Suggest and lead process improvement activities for the department

Data Automation and Reporting

* Prepare technical documentation and release reports.
* Support the department through data consolidation from different sources, and help preparing charts and reports.
* Automate and synchronize across engineering and product line teams.

Recommendations & Forecasting/Planning

* Support monthly status on KPI within the department as well as within the company
* Recommends and supports the development and documentation of improved business operations processes with emphasis on automation and global coordination.
* Document and drive process improvements.
* Provides recommendations on how to properly align product structure.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

* Knowledge of aircraft industry, in-flight entertainment system, and PAC GCS systems preferred.
* Proficiency in MS Excel, SharePoint, SQL, VB, and/or Oracle required. Familiar with Agile PLM is a plus
* Programming in HTML and Adobe Flash player experience a big plus.
* Ability to study and understand detailed mechanical drawings and exploded views.
* Highly adept in designing and developing requirements from specifications, oral instructions.
* Proven ability to analyze problems using conventional (analysis) and computerized techniques.
* Proven ability in developing and automating procedures.
* Ability to perform as a technical expert and a source of information.
* Ability to integrate information from more than one discipline (ME, EE, EMI, Product Planning & Manufacturing Engineering) to achieve results or successfully complete difficult and challenging assignments within a specialized field.
* Use skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of industry best practices and company policies and procedures.
* Resolve a wide range of issues in imaginative as well as practical ways.
* Work on problems of diverse to complex scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of variable factors.

Education/Experience Requirements

* BS in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Math, Physics, Materials Science, or BA in Management Information Systems, or equivalent.
* 3-4 years of experience in an operations and information systems management role
* IFE experience preferred.
