Data Analyst

We are looking to hire an Engineering Data Analyst to drive a multitude of organizational and reporting improvements to the Engineering departments by performing trend analysis within the department as well as within the company. Performs detailed analysis to provide data for business planning. Helps determine present and future project status. Gathers, analyzes, prepares and summarizes data to develop and support recommendations for project status, evaluating future requirements, and operating forecasts. Uses predictive modeling, statistics, trend analysis, and other data analysis techniques to collect, explore and identify the right data to support engineering and certification for In-Flight Entertainment (IFE) systems. Preparing/providing/ coordinating technical documentation.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

Database Consolidation and Organization
* Obtain and consolidate information from different groups into one central database for real time project management of engineering platform feature deliverables.
* Reporting and managing projects
* Utilize project database to track and report project status.
* Maintain project schedule database for various technical data deliverables.
* Provide trend analysis and data pattern on engineering performance and on-time delivery dates

* Gathering and managing technical input from various teams
* Maintain department intranet website used for form creation and technical reporting for Mechanical and Certification groups.

* Provide status to project management and program management on engineering and certification department
* Will support task assignments, scheduling (using MS Project) and negotiation with Project and Program Management for document delivery dates
* Suggest and lead process improvement activities for the department

Data Reporting
* Prepare technical documentation and release reports.
* Support the tech data manager by data consolidation from different sources, and help preparing charts and reports to department manager, certification project engineer, and engineer leads. Monitor and collect data for all related documentation [drawings, test plans, Document Change Requests (DCRs), Document Change Notice (DCNs), Engineering Change Order (ECOs), and Notice of Change (NOCs)]. If necessary, develop method of collecting data and tracking document flow.
* Maintain the selection and ordering of parts, materials and vendor relations with Procurement, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Obsolescence, Product Planning and Material Planning departments.

Recommendations & Forecasting/Planning
* Support monthly status on KPI within the department as well as within the company
* Recommends and supports the development and documentation of improved business operations processes with emphasis on automation and global coordination.
* Monitor and report on test cost, test sample cost and test unit cost.
* Drive process improvements by keeping track in-house or out-sourcing, especially for structural, and flammability testing.
* Provides recommendations on how to modify spending.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
* Proficiency in MS Excel, SharePoint, SQL, VB, and/or Oracle required. Familiar with Agile PLM is a plus
* Programming in HTML and Adobe Flash player experience a big plus.
* Ability to study and understand detailed mechanical drawings and exploded views.
* Familiar with DO-160, FAR25, Boeing, Airbus certification and Airworthiness requirements pertaining to Flammability, Structural, Qualification Basis, Smoke and Toxicity is nice to have.
* Ability to analyze problems using conventional (analysis) and computerized techniques.
* Proven ability in developing and automating procedures.
* Ability to integrate information from more than one discipline (ME, EE, EMI, Product Planning & Manufacturing Engineering) to achieve results or successfully complete difficult and challenging assignments within a specialized field.
* Ability work on problems of diverse to complex scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of variable factors.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
* BA in Management Information Systems, or equivalent. Masters preferred.
* 5 years of experience in an operations and information systems management role
* IFE experience preferred.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
* Ability to travel to other domestic and international locations approximately 20% of the time.
