JOB SUMMARY:

To layout, cut and identify a variety of composite materials.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

I. Works for APL’s, routings, specifications and oral and written instructions to provide correct materials and patterns as required for composites/advanced composites parts fabrication. Operates the automated ply cutting machine and performs manual cutting of composites/advanced composites prepeg materials.

a. Selects and load proper materials on cutting table.

b. Accesses nest file, assure proper material roll out on cutting surface, correctly align cutting head at start point of program.

c. Maintains close visual attention while program execution is in progress to prevent damage to machine or material.

d. Identifies plys to applicable kits and bag and store kits for first in-first out usage. Routinely takes inventory and rotates all kits and materials on hand.

e. Maintains all necessary documentation and check materials for work-life conformity.

II. May make minor adjustments to feed speeds and manual intervention of programs for cutting head start points.

III. Maintains storage freezer recording charts as required. Clocks all routing upon completion of cut and kit operations.

IV. Uses a variety of hand tools such as scissors, electric cutters, knives, markers, bag heat sealers, scale and tape.

V. Wears protective clothing and keep work area clean as required of a controlled and contaminate free environment.

VI. Responsible for instructing and directing one or two helpers 50% or more of the time.

VII. Preforms other related duties as required.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

Requires satisfactory completion of Blueprint Reading I & II and Cessna Composite training program and 2 years of high school to perform simple arithmetic and interpret specifications sheets, requirement sheets and drawings.

EXPERIENCE:

Requires over 12 months up to 18 months of composites experience to become familiar with standards.
