Job Role:
Skyscanner is a leading global travel search site and app, a place where people are inspired to plan and book direct from millions of travel options at the best prices. We employ over 800 staff across ten offices globally, and, having reached market leader status, we were recently acquired by Chinese online travel company Ctrip in a deal valued at £1.4bn. While we remain operationally independent, our acquisition by Ctrip allows us to take the business to the next level of accelerated global growth. It’s a hugely exciting time for Skyscanner and the over 60m people who use us every month. We are unbiased and free, and our secret is in our unique proprietary technology that connects people directly to everything the travel industry has to offer.
We are seeking a Commercial Data Analyst to join us in our Edinburgh office and be part of our highly distributed global team. Skyscanner is a global travel brand with a strong footprint in air travel. Our product now incorporates over 1000 partnerships with airlines and online travel agencies (OTAs). We have recently formed a Strategic Partnerships team who are tasked with elevating our current partner conversations from airline exec to SVP / CEO level. The aim is to authentically position Skyscanner as a natural thought leader in the industry and as such we have created this new evolving role. Our data has tremendous value: it allows partners to optimise their performance in our market place and perhaps more importantly, it can also inform how an airline or OTA should run their own business.
Are you a highly data literate individual who can support the development and selling process of data products within the airline industry? Are you able to be passionate about ‘mining’ our data to provide our partners with nuggets of insight which they can use to drive their business? Can you evangelise our insights to the industry, thereby establishing our thought leader credential? If so then this could be the place for you!
What you can expect as a Commercial Data Analyst
* A supportive, trusting and transparent working environment
* The opportunity to work with the Skyscanner commercial and product teams to develop data products which have value to airlines and support with taking these products to market
* A place to look at things differently and challenge and offer solutions
* The opportunity to support the Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships and Chief Commercial Officer with developing data-led discourse with airlines
* An environment of continuous improvement where you optimise for impact and velocity

What we are looking for
* Previous experience with aviation data, ideally gained in an airline, airport or aviation consultancy
* A deep understanding of aviation and airlines in particular
* An appreciation of an international and technology oriented business environment
* Previous experience selling B2B data type solutions to the travel industry is preferred but not essential
* Ability to work autonomously with little day to day supervision, however has an innate ability to bring in the skills and expertise of others to deliver results
* You can enable others to deliver and succeed
* You will have a fascination with, and passion for data, and how insights from data can aid business success
* You will be involved in developing and owning airline dashboards – presenting our data in a way which talks in the airline language
* You will become a data advocate in the aviation industry
* Overall as part of the Partnership Growth team, develop an industry engagement plan; represent Skyscanner as appropriate at industry events
