CBA Sheet Metal Mechanic NASA Edwards AFB CA

Fabricate, disassemble, assess, repair, overhaul, modify and re-assemble aircraft sheet metal and composite structures, tooling, fixtures or assemblies from blueprints, sketches, engineering drawings and aircraft structure repair manuals.

The structures components will include but not be limited to fuselage, wing and flight control components.

Interface with engineers, scientists and mechanics to provide design inputs.

*

Use Hand, pneumatic and power tools. Shears, brakes, grinders, Etc. to construct and/or complete parts or assemblies of equipment to fabricate Research and Development (R&D) or experimental aircraft parts, tool, Etc.

*

Perform routine/periodic maintenance of tools and equipment for the Sheet Metal Shop.

Adhere to and comply with NASA’s and L-3 policies and regulations.

Qualifications

* Demonstrated experience and knowledge of aircraft structure repair and assembly.

* Demonstrated experience and knowledge of fabrication of parts and tools.

* Able to interpret, make recommendations and corrections to blue prints

* Able to adhere to safety equipment and standards

* Valid Driver’s License

* Proficient in reading, writing and speaking the English language

* Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport

* Ability to obtain and maintain U.S. Secret Clearance

* High School Diploma or higher.

* Minimum of five (5) or more years’ experience in sheet metal/composite fabrication and assembly

Additional Skills Preferred:

* Self-starter, able to work with minimum supervision

* Aircraft and or aviation related fabrication skills

* Strong background in aircraft sheet metal structural and skin repairs

* Strong organizational and time management skills

* Strong problem solving skills; ability to ask the right questions, help frame logical conclusions and arrive at effective solutions

* Strong verbal and written communication competencies

* Able to function well as a team member

* Ability to travel
