We are looking for an Avionics / Spacecraft Electronics Lead Engineer in our Golden, CO location which is part of Moog’s Advanced Programs (AP)-West business unit within Moog’s Space and Defense Group. We specialize in passive and active vibration suppression/load alleviation products and services, precision motion control, specialized test services, motion simulation systems, specialized test structures, spacecraft sub-systems, spacecraft and payload structure and propulsive accommodations.
The position will be a member of a team responsible for hardware and software development of unique and, most often, one-of-a-kind systems. Typical systems include Orbital Maneuver Vehicles (OVM) or spacecraft, precision positioning systems ranging in size from a few inches in diameter to more than 50 feet in length. The selected candidate will be responsible for working side-by-side with other engineers in a team environment and will be exposed to all functional areas of engineering.
Here’s what you can expect as an Avionics / Spacecraft Electronics Engineer at Moog AP-West…
* Provide technical oversight of electro-mechanical designs to ensure the spacecraft subsystems are compliant and verifiable at the spacecraft bus level. Subsystems include Payload Pointing Control, Antenna Gimbal Control, Filter Wheel Control as well as various deployment mechanisms including solar arrays and aperture doors.
* Provide guidance in defining and implementing the test and verification methodologies.
* Interface with internal hardware and software teams with expertise in embedded electronics, mechanical design, algorithms, software and VHDL to plan and execute development activities.
* Advanced spacecraft electrical system technology assessment and architecture definition.
* Lead resolution of hardware anomalies at the system level and determine root cause and corrective action.
You’ll need…
* BS Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field plus 12 or more years related experience.
* Proficient knowledge of motors, actuators, resolvers and controllers used in space-based hardware and associated electronics.
* Experience with Hardware in the Loop (HIL) and Software in the Loop (SIL) testing.
* Experience with electrical requirements analysis and allocation, electrical subsystem concept development/trade studies, design leadership and space hardware development.
* Ability to work with Systems Engineers to understand and accommodate constraints posed by STK modeling and impacts on Electrical Systems trades, architecture and electronics implementation.
