We are looking for an Avionics Simulation Engineer to work on our Aviation Systems and Programs team. The Avionics Simulation Engineer will support the successful conception, development and/or application of sophisticated avionics systems by providing support for complex integrated flight deck programs and/or retrofit product lines. You will lead and develop data packages delivered to simulator companies. You will anticipate and create solutions for simulator company’s qualification needs. You will have responsibility to identify new simulation growth opportunities with technical solutions for those opportunities. You will also be responsible for supporting troubleshooting of issues reported by simulation companies and provide clear communication for internal and external customers.

Other essential duties include:

Organized and proficient at documenting discussions with simulation customers

Effective communication skills including presentations, status updates for internal and external stakeholders and technical documents

Ability to scope the effort of existing and new simulation programs

*
Design and maintain definition for efficient API to be used by simulation products

*
Identify improvements and modify tools for use in simulation tools (complex VBA, python tools, other)

*
Utilize simulation based setups to test, troubleshoot, and verify system functionality

*
Provide troubleshooting support to identify the system root cause

*
Knowledge of the unique needs of simulation environment

*
Knowledge of training and qualification requirements related to simulation needs

Qualifications

Qualifications:

*
A Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Science, or Mathematics from a four-year college or university with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA is required for this role. Qualified candidates must possess demonstrated test conception and test design experience for complex electronic and electro-mechanical systems and must demonstrate test automation experience including test scripting capability. Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are also a must for this role.

Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Software / Computer Science Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering from a four-year college or university and a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA are preferred.

*
Relevant experience and/or training in an applicable high-level software programming language, and 5+ years’ experience performing a role substantially similar to the essential functions of this job description

Pilot’s License and/or demonstrated knowledge of Garmin’s aviation product lines and customer needs are also desirable skills
