Automation Engineer M&T - Division

M&T is a multi-disciplinary team that addresses critical projects across multiple facilities within PCC. This position works within the Materials & Technology group under the M&T Automation Manager. The job focuses specifically on the effective execution of critical automation and robotics projects. These projects may target safety, quality, throughput, or cost as needed.

The incumbent is responsible for project planning, technical problem solving, and process engineering to complete projects on-budget and on-time. The candidate must provide high level judgment and analysis in all areas relating to automation and robotics.

Essential Job Functions

* Be responsible for annual cost savings projects totaling 3x the employee’s salary
* Demonstrated capability to complete projects on-time and on-budget
* Must be able to work with a diverse group (engineers, technicians, sales, manufacturing)
* Time management of multiple projects
* Be able to handle long-term, multi-year projects with short-term, high pressure projects
* Participate in the concurrent engineering with internal departments and externally with vendors
* Responsible for preparing equipment specifications, requirements, and compliance

* Must have or acquire adequate SIX Sigma Black Belt knowledge or training

Education and Qualifications

* Requires one of the following:
* BS degree in engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience
* MS degree in engineering with 1-3 years of relevant experience

* Broad knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and industrial engineering
* Knowledge and demonstrated ability in the following core engineering areas:
* employed manufacturing processes
* statistical analysis (data correlation)
* technical report and article preparation
* preparing specifications
* ability to define, plan, and complete major projects
* ability to supervise/direct activities of professionals with diverse expertise

* Experience with design of robotic systems, safety assessments, machine vision systems,
* Experience with ABB Robot Studio, FANUC Roboguide, Minitab, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Solidworks, AutoCAD
* Knowledge of heavy industrial manufacturing equipment preferred
* Knowledge of investment casting process, typical defects, and production methods preferred
* Knowledge of Java, Python, SQL, C# .NET preferred
