Responsibilities
Coordinates the scheduling and planning of fuel supply chain management and operations, conducts spend and market analysis to coordinate supply chain strategy development.
WORK ACTIVITIES/CONTEXT:
* Leads negotiations with suppliers, utilizing a strong background in fundamental sourcing skills
* Performs difficult analysis, interprets results, and provides effective recommendations
Fuel Supply Team
* Contracts, schedules and forecasts fuel supply for multiple locations throughout Southwest’s network
* Executes monthly airport and pipeline nominations to any or all fuel supply points with the utilization of the Fuel Management System (FMS) and pipeline systems to maintain calculated minimum & maximum levels of fuel inventory
* Interfaces with Legal, Tax, Risk Management, Finance, Enterprise FP&A, Accounts Payable, Internal Audit, and others as necessary
Relationship Management
* Effectively represents SWA interests in all settings; uses effective influencing skills in dealing with internal/external stakeholders
* Builds and maintains excellent relationships with suppliers; attends conferences to learn, share and teach learnings to others
* Makes significant contribution to internal special projects as well as industry projects
Supply Chain Optimization
* Develops fuel supply chain strategy, long-range planning and decision-making processes for their areas of responsibility and assists in overall strategy development
* Looks for ways to continuously improve performance and processes; engages others as needed
* Works to minimize negative impact of fuel disruptions by coordinating across FSCM and externally to achieve resolution
Supplier Management
* Creates agenda and facilitates discussions in Business Reviews with key suppliers and utilizes appropriate technologies to present recommendations at all levels internally and externally
* Coaches suppliers on ways to improve key performance indicators; approaches coaching with an aim to achieve mutually beneficial results
* Uses good understanding of business requirements, with some guidance on new or ambiguous situations, to execute the most appropriate agreement

May perform other job duties as directed by Employee’s Leaders.
Qualifications
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
* High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required.
* Must be at least 18 years of age.
* Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.
EDUCATION:
* Degree in Finance, Supply Chain Management, Business or equivalent experience required
WORK EXPERIENCE:
* At least two years experience in either supply chain management, fuel accounting, fuel purchasing, or fuel quality assurance/control required
* Experience in strategic sourcing initiatives preferred
* Contract management experience preferred
* Strong working knowledge of general accounting principles and SOX requirements required
* Expert analytical skills required
PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
* Ability to perform work duties from desk/office work area for extended periods of time.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
* Must meet confidentiality expectations as to confidential, proprietary, and sensitive Company information.
* Travel: 10-15% for the Fuel Supply Team
Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines.
