This position advocates for and promotes sustainable development within Cathay Pacific Group. The job holder will support the Sustainable Development Manager to develop the Cathay Pacific Group Sustainable Development strategy, including assistance in strategy implementation by working with different business units and external parties. He/she will also coordinate the airlines’ community initiatives and promoting them to maximise their public awareness and recognition through different channels in conjunction with relevant stakeholders. He/she will oversee the collation and analysis of key data and performance metrics for producing relevant reports.

Key Responsibilities

* Identify, explore and assess new community initiatives based on both airlines’ Sustainable Development (SD) strategy

* Plan and drive various community initiatives with relevant internal teams and external stakeholders from ideation to implementation

* Cultivate relationships with Non-Government Organisations (NGOs) and charities

* Monitor progress and evaluate impact of SD programmes

* Research and report on local and international environmental regulations

* Develop business scenarios in conjunction with SD Manager and relevant departments

* Identify and quantify business risks from SD issues

* Benchmark competitors’ operational and reporting performance in the sustainable development area

* Implement initiatives that are in line with Cathay Pacific Group’s Sustainable Development (SD) strategy by working with internal teams and subsidiaries

* Collate and analyse SD performance data

* Support SD Manager in external reporting, including the development of the SD report

* Oversee and respond to external requests, such as regulators, investors, and NGOs, on SD performance issues

* Develop staff awareness programme on SD issues

Qualifications / Experience

* Bachelor’s or above degree in Environmental Management, Corporate Sustainability or related disciplines

* Minimum of 4 years of relevant working experience, preferably with hands-on experience in driving community initiatives involving government, NGOs, and public relations

* Sound understanding of SD issues, best practices, local and international compliance requirements, and reporting standards

* Experience in planning and/or participating in community or charity initiatives

* Well connected with relevant major charity, NGOs and activist groups

* Good team player with strong influencing, planning and organising skills

* Excellent verbal and written English ability

* Fluency in Cantonese/Mandarin is an advantage

* Flexibility to work on weekends and public holidays
