Description

People are at the heart of everything we do at IATA, and PPD (People Performance and Development) is the custodian of all our people related activities. From setting the tone for the culture through our policies, to building great employee experience through our recruitment, compensation, learning & development and engagement activities, we want people to be proud to work at IATA.

In this role, you’ll be joining the Learning & Development team, reporting to the Director, Learning & Development. The team is responsible for setting standards for Recruitment, Performance, Talent and Engagement as well as running a comprehensive Learning & Development program. It’s an exciting remit as in addition to our ongoing activities, we have two exciting priority projects in 2019. We’ll be taking a fresh new look at how we recruit, induct and onboard new employees and how we can renew our approach to Employee Engagement.

Responsibilities

We are a small agile team and are looking for somebody to join us who will help support us on the range of work we undertake. If you are looking for an opportunity to broaden your exposure to HR activities, and contribute to setting the strategies in these areas of activity you’ll find lots to interest you in the role. You’ll also be providing critical support to the team to ensure we can really add value to our employees through flawless execution of the activities we do. Your role will fall into four main categories:

1. Administrative support to the team: As the support backbone for the team, we’ll be looking to you to help us keep us on the straight and narrow with regard to managing our internal affairs. That will include managing the SAP process to make sure our suppliers get paid on time, and supporting the administration associated with our projects. You’ll also support the director with managing the program of activity for the year to ensure we are delivering on our targets.
2. HR Project Work: Ideally, you’ll have experience of recruitment and talent management, and will bring some of your expertise to help our priority projects to improve our recruitment and talent processes to ensure we get the best people in IATA, and develop them to be the best throughout their careers here. You’ll also have the opportunity to work with the HR systems team as we transition our internal processes to the new People Connect System.
3. Monitoring, Reporting & Analytics: Strategy is great, but how do you know you are making progress? By measuring it! We report on all of activities from the number of learnings completed in a year, to our Diversity & Inclusion metrics. All this data helps us make better decisions on where we can have an impact, and we will be relying on you to support with the reporting, monitoring and analytics.
4. Communications: We are here to add value to our employees, and to do that, they need to know what’s on offer! You’ll be working with the L&D team and our partners in Internal Communications to ensure there is a coherence to what we are communicating to our employees.

Qualifications and Skills

We are a small team but we have a big customer base and a big agenda for 2019. We have a lot to do, so you’ll have to be proactive and happy to roll up your sleeves and work under pressure where our sometimes tight deadlines require it!
Administratively, we are looking for somebody who has excellent organizational and administrative skills that is proactive and prepares well ahead of deadlines – anticipating the needs of the team, and tenaciously following up to ‘dot the I’s and cross the t’s!’. You’ll need to use that attention to detail to help with the monitoring, reporting and analytics.
Academically, we want somebody who has excelled in their field, and may have some experience of HR, though they may not yet be a certified practitioner.
At the end of 2019, we’ll be transitioning a lot of L&D to the new system so you’ll need to be comfortable with new systems as well as the standard office suite – we have a lot of data, and presentations so you’ll be using those excel and PowerPoint skills frequently.
As custodians of Diversity & Inclusion at IATA, we are looking for somebody who will bring a different perspective to the team, be it difference in thought, or background. If you think you’ll be a good fit and would like join us on a temporary contract for a year, we look forward to hearing from you.
