Position Description:

SUMMARY
Performs simple repetitive mechanical or electro-mechanical assembly work. Direction provided by verbal instructions or established assembly procedures. Requires simple adjusting and fitting of pre-finished parts. Tolerances usually liberal. Uses simple hand tools and assembly machines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Perform bench-type processes to complete mechanical and electrical assemblies and sub-assemblies, using hand tools and electronic tooling.
• Performs assembly operations that are moderately complex, requiring adjusting, fitting and aligning of components to ordinary tolerances.
• Complete tasks as directed by manufacturing schedules with minimum supervision.
• Works from drawings and/or specifications; reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.
• Inspects and tests completed units.
• Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
• May rotate to other work stations in the unit.
• Performs other duties as requested, directed or assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively to all levels of employees in the organization.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
