Description

AI Software Engineer

We are a company of innovators, game changers, and entrepreneurs. As a prime contractor, we provide a broad range of communication, electronic and sensor systems used on military and commercial platforms across the globe. We embrace innovative and progressive ideas to advance our products for military and commercial customers. The Electronic Systems Segment (ESS) provides a broad range of aerospace systems, security and detection systems, and pilot training.

L3 Link Training & Simulation is a world leader in providing platform operators and maintainers with total training solutions that improve training effectiveness and efficiency and lower life-cycle costs in a secure cyber environment. L3 Link’s innovative solutions provide a full spectrum of state-of-the-art training technologies, including high-fidelity immersive simulations, as well as distributed academic and interactive courseware. The company, headquartered in Arlington, Texas, has delivered military and commercial training systems to customer locations throughout North America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East and the Pacific Rim.

The AI Software Engineer will contribute to the Mission Planning and Debrief (MP&D) research and development in AFRL’s Warfighter Readiness Research Division . This work digitizes mission planning and mission debriefing content and incorporates AI agents to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of planning and debriefing in training exercise and future operations.

Primary responsibilities:

* Work as an AI Software Engineer in a high-performing Research & Development team, supporting MP&D for autonomous operations in contested environments.

* Research, develop, integrate, and validate intelligent agent behaviors for mission planning ingestion, responses to dynamic threats and contingencies, and mission debriefing capabilities.

A primary objective of the MP&D project is to create innovative new approaches for joint human-machine mission planning and debrief. During pre-mission planning the digital infrastructure and AI agents will help planners and aircrew by proposing and evaluating viable solutions. During post-mission Debriefing, the MP&D system will also assist planners and aircrew by automating analysis of mission performance, and by providing recommendations for possible future mission execution improvement. Specifically, you will create intelligent agents that use symbolic knowledge representation and reasoning techniques to extract and process content from images and tables, such as air mission plans, range restrictions, and weather maps, to respond to dynamic changes during the mission planning process and to provide feedback during the debriefing process.

The successful candidate will work with US Government customers, Software Engineers, Subject Matter Experts, and Military personnel.
