Artificial intelligence (AI) / Simulation Software Engineer

Job Description:
The AI/Simulation Software Engineer will contribute to the Research & Development in the Air Force Research Lab’s (AFRL’s) Warfighter Readiness Research Division. This will include multi-domain simulations, and integrating sensors and weapon models within multi-levels of security. This position will explore combinations of image generators and computer generated forces programs to help create testing models for research and training to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of training exercises and future operations. This position will also develop and integrate AI software technologies to support machine learning, and human-machine teaming.
* Support Software Development Team with research, design, development, integration, modification, and documentation of enterprise-wide systems and applications software, while observing all software compliance standards
* Assist with overall system evaluation, to include analysis and development of hardware/software interfaces
* Help identify, develop and implement solutions for software related technical issues that could possibly impact costs, schedule, or performance
* Work as an integral part of the Software Development Team, while adhering to established guidelines and following technical direction

Qualifications
Required Skills:
* Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of experience and education
* Demonstrated experience with UNIX and/or Linux and Microsoft Windows application development using C++, and/or ADA
* Must possess 2+ years of experience in applicable domains
* Demonstrated proficiency with synthetic agent development and symbolic knowledge representation and reasoning
* Demonstrated proficiency with: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Linux, and SQL relational-databases (e.g., MySQL)
* Have knowledge in, or an interest in learning, Machine Learning
* Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD SECRET Security Clearance
Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
* Experience with Flight Simulation, Aircraft Systems and Distributed Simulation (DIS) is desirable
* Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or related fields desirable
* Experience with computer graphics (OpenGL or DirectX), networking and the Git version control system, familiarity with Python, Azure
* Knowledge of F-16, F-22, F-35 Operation Flight Program (OFP) systems and avionics is highly desirable
* Preference given for those with the ability to trace and debug aircraft avionics code and integrate new avionics code to existing platforms
* Proficiency in Go (aka Golang), WebSockets, JSON, XML, UML2, and Windows
* Proficiency in content extraction from graphics
* A currently Active DoD SECRET Security Clearance is preferred
