About the Job

An excellent overseas job opportunity has arisen in the Middle East with one of our key clients in the Aerospace & Defence sector. We are searching for a highly skilled Armament Technician, to support the Tornado Flying Programme for our customer based in the Middle East. In this role you will be responsible for carrying out armament maintenance activities on Tornado aircraft, and for the delivery of training to assigned trainees and technicians.

About the Employer

Our client has a well-established overseas presence where they have developed a reputation for working closely with local partners to support economic development by transferring knowledge, skills and technology to add value and capability.  Our client operates as a prime contractor under a Government to Government arrangement which is in place to provide equipment, support and training to the customer based in the Middle East.

Key Responsibilities

If you are a candidate currently in search of overseas jobs or have previously considered working in the Middle East, then this role will potentially provide a great opportunity to take the leap with a well-established and respected Aerospace & Defence business.  As Armament Technician for the Tornado aircraft, you will be responsible for carrying out maintenance activities including troubleshooting and rectification of all Armament equipment.  As part of a highly skilled and capable overseas team, you will carry out flight line duties as directed as well as providing mentoring to assigned trainee technicians.  As you would expect for a position of this nature, you will need to be able to demonstrate good cultural awareness and diplomacy to ensure that communications are crystal clear to maximise operational readiness and ensure safety critical issues are managed effectively and efficiently.

About the Person

The ideal candidate for the position of Armament Technician will most likely have completed a recognised aircraft engineering apprenticeship in industry/military or similar qualification in aircraft systems. You should be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of all Tornado Systems as well as a sound knowledge of Quality Assurance and training principles. To succeed in the position of Armament Technician, you will have comprehensive and proven post-qualification experience of military fast jet maintenance support, within an operational flying environment.

Whilst it isn’t essential for succeeding in overseas jobs, it would be a distinct advantage if you have previous experience of working in the aerospace & defence sector in a Middle East country.  Given the nature of the job it will also be helpful if you have meticulous attention to detail and can operate to strict deadlines without compromising standards and quality.

The Reward & Overseas Benefits

The package for this Middle East job is substantial.  You can expect an excellent tax-free cash package of circa £40k with a wide-ranging benefits package including flights, rent-free accommodation and 2 months leave per year.  With all-year round sunshine, excellent recreation facilities, and first-class medical facilities, it is a fantastic overseas opportunity for either those looking to move on an unaccompanied basis or those who wish to consider opportunities for families.

If you are interested in this role or potentially considering a move, please send your CV with a brief cover note providing some background on why you would like to be considered. Alternatively, if you would like to hear more details or have an initial, confidential conversation, please contact Carlé Liddell at Two Rivers Recruitment.
