Working within the AOSU, this position will act as a supporting role to the Airside Safety Officer in achieving the highest standards of operational safety ensuring the airside operation runs compliantly in all operating conditions. The role reports to the Airside Safety Leader

Responsibilities include:

* Effective communication with Airside Safety Lead on all matters relating to trends, projects, airside safety issues and training.

* Assist in the management of the airside accident and incident reporting scheme, including collation of statements, review of CCTV and conducting interviews. Promulgation of reports to the appropriate departmental managers and 3rd parties including airlines

* Conduct Accident Investigations at all Categories (1,2 and 3), identifying root causation taking into consideration human factors, underlying causes and suggest appropriate corrective and preventative actions.

* Manage the process of the penalty point’s notice scheme for the airside operations, including administration, monitoring of individuals penalty levels, communication with departmental management and 3rd parties including airlines on individual cases.

* Support in the review of AOSU Risk Assessments current, new and changing practices, to ensure all operational functions have been considered on the grounds of safety and all highlighted issues are managed through procedure.

* Take an active role in safety related campaigns, incentives and projects as part of the Safety Awareness Group.

* Develop collaborative relationships with other Airside departments and third parties

Experience and Personal Attributes:

* Good general education (incl GCSE English and Maths, Grade C or above)

* Experience of working in a high-pressure, busy office environment

* Excellent written & verbal communication skills in person and on the telephone

* PC literate with good keyboard skills & experience of Microsoft Word & Excel

* The ability to lead a process from beginning to end with attention to detail

* Have the ability to work to tight deadlines and to work on own initiative

* Worked in an airfield environment, with the ability to engage with staff

* Knowledge of different roles on an airfield environment

* The ability to develop systems (records, working systems)

* To be organised and methodical

Hours of Work:

40 hours per week 09:00–17:30 with half an hour for lunch. Some additional hours may be required to accommodate operational requirements; this may entail weekend or overnight working.
