An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Aircraft Fitter to join BN Aviation Ltd, a subsidiary of the Britten-Norman Limited, producer of one of the most successful civil aircraft ever manufactured in the UK. 

Britten-Norman also manufactures a highly versatile, low cost surveillance aircraft type which is in use with a number of military and police operators world-wide including the UK’s Army Air Corps.

This role is based at our Lee-on-Solent, Solent Airport premises.

Job Purpose

Working to completion deadlines, following specific instructions from management carry out aircraft maintenance, inspection, rectification and modification in accordance with approved data, company procedures and regulatory requirements. Work to achieve optimum productivity both individually and within the team.

Primary Tasks

Main tasks will include but are not limited to:

  • Carry out defined, specific tasks in accordance with company procedures
  • Responsible for ensuring quality standards is maintained to the highest level.
  • Carry out aircraft maintenance, modification, and inspection and defect rectification either at home base or customers facility, in accordance with approved data and company procedures.

Key Skills and Attributes:

  • Communication: Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills with ability to retain composure and flexibility under pressure
  • Computer Skills: Proficient in MS Word, Excel and outlook
  • Organisation: Ability to multi-task and to determine and manage priorities to meet multiple deadlines
  • Team Working: Effective in a team and as an individual. Precise, accurate and meticulousness. Reliable, pro-active and self-confident.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

  • Served recognised Aircraft Maintenance / Craft Apprenticeship or BTEC Level 3 Aeronautical Engineering and NVQ Level 3 Aeronautical Engineering or Part 66 B1 Maintenance License.
  • 5 GCSE grade C or above including Maths, English and a Science subject.
  • Current Human Factor Certificate or willing to undertake the training provided  

Required Experience:

  • Experience in embodying aircraft modifications.
  • Extensive experience in carrying out aircraft maintenance.
