Our detail-oriented engineers lead aircraft certification projects by coordinating internal and external groups to ensure well-planned, efficient and timely aircraft systems implementation, development and FAA certification. If you think you have what it takes, apply for our full-time Aircraft Certification Engineering position at our world headquarters in Olathe, Kansas. In this role you will be responsible for leading aircraft certification projects by coordinating internal Garmin groups and outside customers to ensure well planned, efficient and timely aircraft systems implementation, development and FAA certification. Other essential functions include:

* Develop well organized project proposals, project specific certification plans and project schedules
* Develop efficient and accurate certification approaches for 14 CFR part 23/25 aircraft modifications
* Assist in the preparation and verification of aircraft installation and FAA certification documents
* Coordinate with outside customers to understand and meet their expectations consistently
* Coordinate internal Garmin groups to communicate, execute and meet project goals
* Accurately define aircraft modification compliance requirements in accordance with 14 CFR part 23/25
* Logically define project documentation structure
* Provide engineering support for the integration of aircraft systems including integrated cockpit systems, automatic flight control systems, TCAS, TAWS, Weather Radar and other assorted avionics systems
* Provide engineering support for the development of system safety documents

Qualifications

Qualified candidates possess a Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from a four-year college or university or a minimum of four years’ experience performing a role substantially similar to the essential functions of this job description and must possess previous experience working in avionics design, installation and FAA certification. Other requirements include:

* Must possess a demonstrated understanding of commercial avionics interface standards and their installation
* Must demonstrate a clear understanding of the FAA system safety process
* Proficient with Microsoft Office products
* Superior organizational and analytical skills with keen attention to detail and quality

Candidates with a Pilot license and FAA Systems and Equipment DER (Electrical) authorization potential, proficiency with AutoCAD, a demonstrated understanding of HIRF and Lightning aspects of aircraft certification and the FAA TSO process are highly preferred!
