Leonardo Helicopters is seeking an Air Traffic Controller with valid EC/CAA ATC ratings in Aerodrome Control Instrument (ADI), Approach Control Procedural (APP) and Approach Control Surveillance (APS) (SRA) for permanent employment at their Yeovil site. 

The majority of flying activity at Leonardo Helicopters involves the flight testing and development of both civilian and military rotary-wing aircraft which is regulated by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and Military Aviation Authority (MAA) respectively.  Light, fixed-wing GA aircraft also visit the airfield for training sorties on a regular basis but otherwise, the operation remains almost exclusively rotary-wing. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe, orderly and expeditious provision of ATC Services (appropriate to CAA Licence Rating) in accordance with the standards and regulations as laid down by the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and (where appropriate) the UK Military Aviation Authority (MAA).  The ideal person will have proven military experience as an Air Traffic Controller, a flexible attitude and the desire to contribute to the development of both ATC and Leonardo Helicopters.

In addition, the successful candidate must be able to:

* Complete the annual requirements for Refresher Training
* Where appropriate, provide an approved Aviation Meteorological Observation Service.
* Issue NOTAMs as required to notify other airspace users of ATC equipment unserviceabilities, changes to the ATS Service or other airfield and local area obstructions. 
* Undergo periodic internal training as specified by AW Company Core Instructions or other notices.
* Complete other ATC-related tasks and/or duties as directed by the SATCO and/or Chief Test Pilot (CTP).
* Assist the SATCO with the development of all members of the ATC department including ensuring that sufficient specialist training is provided so that qualification and proficiency is achieved and maintained across the range of disciplines appropriate to operations at the airfield. This may include mandatory AW internal training.

Essential Qualifications
* Hold a valid EC/CAA ATC ratings in Aerodrome Control Instrument(ADI), Approach Control Procedural(APP) and * Approach Control Surveillance (APS) (SRA).
* A valid EC/CAA Class 3/CAA Medical Certificate.
* Level 5 English Language Proficiency Certification.
* Have a sound working knowledge of the practical implications of operating within an Aviation Safety Management System.
* Have the legal right to work in the UK

Desirable Criteria
* Hold an On the Job Training Instructor (OJTI) Rating and a Meteorological Observers Certificate.
* A Flight Information Service Officer (FISO) qualification would also be an advantage.
* The role holder must possess a sound working knowledge of all appropriate CAA and MAA regulatory documentation including (but not exclusively) CAA Safety and Information Notices.
* Should be able to operate common software packages such as MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint etc for routine administrative tasks.
* Have a sound working knowledge of the practical implications of operating within an Aviation Safety Management System.
