Overview

An opportunity has arisen for a Workforce Support Operations Manager. The purpose of the role is to ensure the day to day resourcing needs of business units are scheduled, implemented and exceptions managed in a transparent and ‘real time’ environment, enabled by standardised, agreed and documented procedures and supported by technology. The role holder will be responsible for managing the interface with Payroll in relation to work packages and to oversee the provision of helpdesk support to business unit end users.

Qualifications

* Degree in business studies or a related discipline desirable
* Familiarity with rostering technology solutions and with continuous improvement methodologies in relation to operational processes
* 7+ years Operations Management experience including people leadership responsibilities
* Experience of working within a unionised and multi shift environment with a wide variety of work patterns, practices, terms and conditions
* Experience of working in an airport environment desirable but not essential
* Experience of working with and influencing senior management in large, complex organisations
* People management experience
* Broad, generalist operations management background with a good understanding of unionised environments and operating constraints
* Good understanding of daa’s operating model and service delivery frameworks
* Strong leadership, decision making, stakeholder management and influencing skills
* Ability to communicate with impact at a senior level and to demonstrate sound strategic and operational judgment, allied to excellent oral and written communication skills

Responsibilities

*

Participate as a member of the Workforce Support management team providing input to, and implementing, the agreed strategy and operational plans

*

Develop, implement and continuously improve standardised scheduling, in-day support, post in-day reconciliation and payment data, through liaising with Business Units and with the other teams within Workforce Support

*

Drive good behaviour in relation to Time and Attendance and roster management compliance with agreed processes through monitoring and escalation of exceptions

*

Manage the workflow and build capability within Workforce Support Operations through the appropriate cross training of team members on the different processes and / or Business Unit requirements on a rotational basis

*

Drive a focus on continuous improvement of standardised processes and ways of working, understanding the root cause of any recurring exceptions or problem areas and implementing agreed solutions to address these, working with Technology and Process optimisation colleagues within Workforce Support

*

To manage the provision of helpdesk and technical support to business unit line management and employees

*

To manage key interfaces with HR and Payroll / Shared Services in relation to real time payments, based on a ‘right first time’ principle in relation to payment in arrears

*

Lead the Workforce Support Operations team and create an environment where people can develop to their full capability and perform at their best founded on clarity of roles and clear accountabilities

*

During transition this role will also be responsible for the ongoing overall management of SPA and the current business as usual activity that sits within it. As part of this activity this role will be responsible for the successful and structured transition of staff from SPA to Workforce Support Operations team and the controlled wind down of SPA.
