As a result, our commercial and federal clients build awareness, increase market share, influence policy, and protect their brands. kglobal is looking for a UX/UI Designer interested in playing an integral role conceptualizing and delivering improved user experiences for a new US Federal Government customer. Our ideal candidate is passionate about the UX/UI field and curious about how to continuously improve digital experiences for others. As a critical member of our Agile team, this designer thrives in a highly visible, fast-paced, time-sensitive IT environment to depict technical concepts and create compelling visuals by designing prototypes, wireframes, and user flows. A successful candidate is creative, fast on their feet, and self-driven. Candidates must be US citizens and have an active SECRET security clearance (or the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance). Previous experience with UX/UI design for the federal government, specifically civilian agencies is a bonus. Applicants should live in the greater Washington, DC area with the ability to work on client or contractor site.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

What You’ll Do:

* Translate concepts into user flows, wireframes, mockups and prototypes that lead to intuitive user experiences
* Facilitate the client’s product vision by researching, conceiving, sketching, prototyping and user-testing experiences for digital products
* Design and deliver wireframes, user stories, user journeys, and mockups optimized for a wide range of devices and interfaces
* Identify design problems and devise appropriate solutions
* Make strategic design and user-experience decisions related to core, and new, functions and features
* Take a user-centered design approach and rapidly test and iterate designs
* Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders
* Ask smart questions, take risks and champion new ideas

Education and Experience Requirements

Who You Are:

* 3+ years of UX design experience. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience designing complex solutions for complete digital agile environments (experience in federal government a plus)
* Ability to work with clients to understand detailed requirements and design complete user experiences that meet client needs and vision
* Knowledge of Section 508 compliance standards and how to create digital and print products that adhere to these standards
* Extensive experience in using UX design best practices to design solutions
* A solid grasp of user-centered design (UCD), planning and conducting user research, user testing, rapid prototyping, usability and accessibility concerns
* Ability to iterate designs and solutions efficiently and intelligently
* Ability to clearly and effectively communicate design processes, ideas, and solutions to teams and clients
* A clear understanding of the importance of user-centered design and design thinking and ability to articulate that importance to clients, team members, and product owners
* Ability to work effectively in a team setting including synthesizing abstract ideas into concrete design implications
* Excited about collaborating and communicating closely with teams and other stakeholders to regularly deliver design solutions for approval
* Passionate about resolving user pain points through great design
* Be passionate about all things UX and other areas of design and innovation and have the desire to research and showcase knowledge in the industry’s latest trends and technologies
* Expertise in HTML5, CSS3, GitHub, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign) and JavaScript skills are a plus.

Security Clearance

* This position will require U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a DHS Suitability security clearance. Active clearance is highly desired.
