Overview
The Systems Engineer position is responsible for the planning, implementation, administration and disaster recovery procedures for mission critical systems. Serves as a technical engineer, in the area of Virtual infrastructure, specifically VMWare and hardware storage systems. Investigates and analyzes feasibility of system requirements and develops system specifications.
Responsibilities
* Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as data backups/restores.
* Monitor and respond within the given SLA for all calls received and assigned through the Service Desk ticketing system.
* Perform administrations tasks that include:
* (1) Creating and maintaining user accounts for the directory and various applications;
* (2) File data and security;
* (3) Email administration;
* (4) Repair and recovery from hardware and/or software failures.
* Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary. Maintain data center environment and monitoring equipment.
* Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade and support of all IT systems, including but not limited to servers, thin clients, operating systems, hardware, software and applications.
* Plan and direct major infrastructure systems projects of significant importance to the organization, or major components of these complex systems which typically impact critical operations and large or multiple user groups.
* Evaluate resource requirements and make recommendations for host system integration.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Computer Science) or equivalent work experience.
* 3 to 5 years’ experience.
* Knowledge of VMWare, with experience designing, installing, configuration, and implementing of virtual infrastructure, to include SAN and Hyper converged systems utilizing hardware such as Nutanix and Pure Storage.
* VMWare Certification (Preferred) VCP – VMWare Certified Professional or higher, Nutanix, Pure Storage Certifications or training, a plus
