Position Summary

The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) assists with supplier compliance and approval activities. The SQE is responsible for

providing Quality Engineering support for day to day operations, in relation to supplied materials and all activities relating to

supplier performance. The SQE will also be involved in continuous improvement programs and other projects as required.

Duties and Responsibilities

* Lead focused improvement activities and training with most disruptive suppliers.

* Perform supplier product and process audits

* Perform review and disposition of supplier First Article Inspection submissions for compliance to AS9102 standards.

* Act as the liaison on customer CAR for supplier caused non-conformances

* Support evaluation of Product Trials with new/potential suppliers

* Track supplier quality performance measurements (i.e. scorecards) for site suppliers and lead monthly site supplier

* performance review boards.

* Manage Supplier Variance Request(s) and disposition workflow(s).

* Coordinate MRB activities with site operations teams to ensure the timely assessment of potential non-conforming products.

* Implement and develop mechanisms to monitor and identify negative supplier non-conformance/performance trends.

* Lead Problem Solving, Failure Analysis, Corrective Action & Preventative Action activities with the Suppliers.

* Promote a culture of structured problem solving within the site quality and operations teams.

* Ensure the efficient and timely transfer of process knowledge from supplier project personnel to internal manufacturing, quality and design engineers.

* Develops and deploys Incoming Receiving Inspection plans for supplied products with site IRI team.

* Defines Customer contract flow-down requirements to suppliers and performs periodic audits of supplier’s conformance to requirement documents.

* Develops and generates statistical reports on inspection activities and results.

* Considers financial impacts of supplier nonconformance to the operations and provides data to support recovery activities.

* Works to actively deploy customer defined Supplier Quality Procedures, Processes and Work Instructions. Leads process and procedure reviews with site cross functional team members as needed.

* Ability to work independently and to provide technical training and mentorship to junior engineers, technicians and inspectors.

* Attend appropriate customer, business or program meetings

* Prepares quality engineering reports and recommendations

* Provides regular reporting of progress and status

* Completion of assigned task on time and meeting technical requirements

* Travel up to 20% as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

* Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related technical field and a minimum of 5 years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment.

* Experienced with ISO Standards, Statistics, Microsoft Office Programs

* Ability to understand military specifications and to read blue prints with GD&T background

* Experienced in problem solving with ability to provide training to suppliers as needed

* Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, communication and writing skills

* Working knowledge of lean / six sigma methodology; green /black belt certification preferred.

* Experienced in forming and leading cross-function teams.

* Ability to plan, organize, and implement multiple concurrent tasks.

* Must be US Citizen

Preferred Qualifications:

* Competent technical expertise and application domain knowledge

* Experienced with ISO Standards, Statistics, Microsoft Office Programs

* Technical expertise in machining and familiarity with inspection techniques

* Ability to understand military specifications and to read blue prints with GD&T background

* Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, communication and writing skills

* Ability to define problems and drive to root cause and effective corrective action
