About The Job

This job is a member of the Maintenance Team within the Integrated Operations Division. ​This position will be responsible for leading a team of inspectors as a key member of the dynamic and fast-paced American Airlines Maintenance organization.

Specifically, you’ll do the following:

* Maintains Inspection staff compliance with the designated QC and maintenance program [CAMP] and as directed by QC Manager

* Ensures Inspection staff is following methods as required to maintain product quality necessary to meet AA standards and FAA government regulations

* Supervises and manages union workforce of inspectors in the performance of their day-to-day accomplishment of audits, visual inspection, functional testing measurements, non-destructive testing, borescope and work finding of airframes components/engines repaired, serviced and / or modified by Production employees​

* Creates and nurtures a diverse work environment

* Recognizes and encourages successful individual and team performance; establishes individual developmental plans

* Resolves conflict and takes appropriate action to prevent future occurrences

* Keeps team and self-aware of personnel, product, safety, regulatory, and technical requirements

* Monitors organizational performance using metrics, establishes goals, and implements improvement initiatives to meet performance goals

* Utilizes the skills, knowledge, and information available from resources (e.g., employees, customers, manuals, other departments) to make timely, effective, and informed decisions

* Accomplishes corporate objectives by facilitating the active participation of all team members and by identifying and removing obstacles to achieve desired results

* Certifies the air worthiness of aircraft released for service and the return of components and federal regulations

* Ensures inspectors possess proper qualifications to perform their assigned duties properly and efficiently

* Recommends new and revised procedures / programs for upgrading quality systems as needed, includes special assignments as directed by management

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

* High School diploma or GED equivalency

* ​Experience equivalent to undergraduate degree or similar technical school

* Experience in managing teams and utilizing continuous improvement processes

* Experience in monitoring and improving organizational performance

* ​A&P license

* Copes effectively with stress in a fast-paced environment

* Medium to advanced Microsoft Office skills in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

* Excellent organizational skills

* Ability to manage projects effectively

* Ability to demonstrate sound, principled, ethical leadership traits

* Ability to create and nurture a diverse work environment that promotes mutual respect

* Ability to recognize and encourage successful individuals and team performance

* Demonstrates a calm, approachable, professional demeanor using a variety of communication techniques

* Demonstrates knowledge of continuous improvement and the development of high performance teams

* Ability to negotiate and lead productive meetings

* Analytical skills in root cause and interpretative skills in metrics and data

Qualifications (Continued)

Preferred Qualifications

* ​Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent experience/training

* 3 years hands on experience working as an A&P licensed aircraft mechanic

* Prior leadership experience (e.g., supervisor, crew chief, community, organizational)

* Experience in using Operating Rhythm to monitor and improve organizational performance, with an emphasis on the ability to develop and implement shop level metrics

* Project Management experience

* Certified in use of Lean Six Sigma tools
