Responsibilities
Assist the Manager of Ground Support in all aspects of managing the Ground Support Department’s daily operations in an assigned Station. Primary focus on supervising afternoon and midnight shifts in mega GSE shops with 24 hour operations. Leading, Directing
GSE shift including scheduling, prioritizing GSE workloads to insure department goals and objectives are met. Additional responsibilities
include working with supplier and manufacturers to expedite repairs, technical service bulletins and recalls.
WORK ACTIVITIES/CONTEXT:
* Provides friendly service to and maintains positive relationship with all Internal and External Customers.
* Works in a cooperative spirit to ensure the success of our Company.
* Assist Manager and Senior Manager in achieving all departmental goals and objectives. Assists in establishing new goals and objectives for their operation.
* Support and develop Lead Mechanics. Manage the shift operations to assure we are working as a team and managing consistently in areas relating to preventative maintenance programs, union issues, budgets and scheduling.
* Interact with local Station leadership concerning ground support equipment issues.
* Attend local safety meetings as assigned.
* Promote shop Safety
* Assist Manager in determining annual budget while maintaining and establishing cost controls
* Assist in establishing proper staffing levels and developing leadership candidates
* Must be able to meet any physical ability requirements listed on this description.
* May perform other job duties as directed by Employee’s Leaders.
Qualifications
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
* High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required.
* Must be at least 18 years of age.
* Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.
EDUCATION:
* High School diploma or equivalency required.
* Some college preferred.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
* Minimum six years heavy truck and/or equipment repair experience, with 2-3 years of supervisory experience preferred.
LICENSING/CERTIFICATION:
PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
* Must have abilities sufficient to work in vicinity of ramps, hangers and terminals.
* Must be able to perform all job functions within a limited space and in hazardous areas.
* Must be able to lift and move items up to 50 pounds.
* Must be able to climb, bend, kneel, crawl and stoop.
* Must be able to work in cramped or confined places for training purposes.
SKILLS/ABILITIES/KNOWLEDGE/WORK STYLE:
* Must be knowledgeable of automotive parts and repairs.
* Mechanical aptitude with ability to analyze problems and make sound decisions.
* Ability to perform hands on training for Mechanics/Lead Mechanics
* Must be able to develop and motivate people.
* Good written skills and oral communication skills.
* Ability to work under demanding situations.
* Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
* Some travel and extended work hours may be required
* Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines.
