Job Description
The Supervisor will be responsible for planning, supervising and controlling the activities of a team responsible for duties related to: 1) receivables and/or payables for Cargo’s USPS Domestic/International mail, Foreign mail, Trucking (Road Feeder Service), codeshare and misc. AP invoices, 2) U.S. cargo customer credit applications and credit worthiness/extension, including 3rd party collection agency activity, 3) administration of accounting activities related to cargo claim payments and check disbursement, and 4) department mailroom coordination.
The Supervisor will work closely with the Cargo Accounting Control Manager during the monthly mail revenue close process and have oversight for the monthly close process related to trucking expense activity, including review and audit of variance explanations between actual and plan. The Supervisor will also have extensive contact with senior representatives at the USPS and various foreign post offices as well as the leadership team within the Cargo Division and have direct responsibility for the accounting related modules & reports within our third-party mail scanning solution.
The Supervisor will be responsible for motivating, evaluation, counseling, developing and training personnel to meet the challenges of a demanding and evolving business.
Other responsibilities include ad-hoc analysis and process improvement initiatives leading to optimal resource allocation and lower costs; development and presentation of relevant analytical and informational packages to all levels of management; compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, corporate policies and procedures and other technical/governmental standards/guidelines.
Some travel required.
