Job Description

American Airlines, Inc. has multiple openings for a Sr. Infrastructure Engineer to perform the following duties: Install and configure HP Blade servers with Unix/Linux - RHEL (Redhat Enterprise Linux) and Oracle Solaris and building new virtual machines on VMware platform using templates and clone. Plan, coordinate, and implement OS  (Red hat Linux and Oracle Solaris) patches to meet security requirements and corporate standards. Create and troubleshoot shell scripts to automate system administration tasks for UNIX/Linux Servers. Provide performance tuning, monitor and support Unix/Linux servers and setup alert notification via emails. Configure network and storage on Unix/Linux servers and troubleshoot any network related issues. Create and modify technical documents such as runbooks and software installation guides, maintaining artifacts in a project collaboration site and creating & monitoring service requests for Unix/Linux Servers. Provide troubleshooting expertise. Define standards for configuration, monitoring, reliability and performance for Unix/Linux servers. Install, monitor and support WebSphere Application Server, IBM HTTP/Apache Web Servers on Unix/Linux environment for various projects. Responsible for infrastructure implementations based on designs from infrastructure architects. Perform detailed technical analysis on the designs and provide appropriate feedback to the architects, and to direct system administrators in their implementation. Configure Dynatrace for application monitoring. Design puppet modules to automate post build tasks. Design and implement innovations that improve software engineering velocity, infrastructure resiliency, security, and data availability. Includes off hour work at times in the evenings to perform infrastructure changes after hours.

Job Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, IT or related field plus 5 years of experience in the job offered or in systems administration, and demonstrated experience in: Linux and Unix – Oracle  Solaris and Red Hat Linux Operating systems; Building multiple servers from kickstart, VMware templates, and ISO images; Scripting and automation; Troubleshooting issues and making system changes to resolve issues; Networking; VMware (virtualization); NAS  and SAN storage; Installing, configuring and supporting WebSphere and Tomcat middleware; Redhat (RHCSA) and Vmware certification required.

 

Work Schedule: 40 hours per week/8 a.m.-5 p.m./M-F.
