Job Description

American Airlines, Inc. has multiple openings for a Sr. Infrastructure Engineer to perform the following duties: Create & maintain infrastructure-related technical specifications, designs, and schedules. Support production support team in sustaining, applying enhancements, application backups, refreshing testing and development systems, etc. Utilize technical expertise by addressing the problems of system integration, compatibility, across multiple platforms.  Analyze and troubleshoot complex issues and implementing solutions by providing recommendations for application and system improvements. Evaluate and create new tools and techniques to facilitate effective infrastructure-related practices. Design, review, analyze, develop, implement and maintains complex software applications and services. Work closely with software architects to ensure decisions meet long term enterprise growth needs. Deploy Puppet, Puppet Dashboard, and PuppetDB for configuration management to existing infrastructure. Implement Puppet modules to automate configuration of a broad range of services. Apply working knowledge of Docker (containerization), looking at logs, analysis using Splunk, creating VPC, subnetting and controlling access using Network Access List (NACL) using AWS - amazon webservices. Application configuration and deployment on BLUEMIX using Websphere and docker. Support Jenkins using GIT repository. Contribute to the maintenance and improvement of open-source tools. Maintain current applications which include, but are not limited to, deploying bug fixes and feature enhancements, researching/troubleshooting issues, and performance tuning. Research and implement technologies and patch sets to enhance current processes, security and performance. Develop and maintain system and application documentation with regard to troubleshooting, maintenance, start/stop, logging, etc. Participate in a duty rotation providing 24 x 7 supports of production systems and applications.

Job Qualifications

Master’s degree in CS, CE, EE, CIS or related field plus 3 years of experience in the job offered or as a programmer, computer analyst, or systems analyst and demonstrated experience in: UNIX/Linux-based systems (RedHat Linux v5x/v6x, Solaris10/11, tCserver); WebSphere v7.x, v8x and WMQ 7x; Deployments, installations, configurations, maintenance, and patching of multiple application servers incl. WebSphere application server v6x, v7.x, v8.5.5, tcServer/apache-tomcat, jboss, Puppet Enterprise and Chef; Installation and configuration of WebSphere MQ; Application installation and configuration in a Linux/Solaris/Windows environment; Implementing system monitoring with Nagios; Python scripting and perl scripting; Java applications, and J2EE framework, Proficient with Oracle Database 11g and Toad; Agile methodology and knowledge of working in a SOX/PCI compliance environment and Networking protocols incl TCP/IP, UDP. Bachelor’s plus 5 years of experience accepted in the alternative.

 

Work Schedule: 40 hours per week/8 a.m.-5 p.m./M-F.
