Job Description

Reports to the Manager, Strategic Leisure Sales-Pacific. Key Global Sales role responsible for the active development of leisure account potential with emphasis on APAC  wholesale and consolidator accounts and community sales activities to drive incremental revenue as a major player in the success of AA’s China and other APAC routes.  This includes developing and expanding the account base in specified geographic areas receiving specialty net programs and being a champion in the Asia-Pacific community, particularly for business flowing through the Chicago hub. Specifically, fostering and leveraging relationships with all key, Chinese cultural leaders and important stakeholders most closely tied to the APAC marketplaces including business leaders, civic, non-profit and government officials. Mandarin, Cantonese or both languages and understanding of the Chinese cultural community is required for this role.

 

An effective candidate understands how to identify opportunities in various important points of sale cities, making sure programs are in place to capture and deliver business for AA and our Joint Business partners. Stay current on marketplace competitiveness, execute appropriate sales strategies and collaborate with key interdepartmental stakeholders (such as Revenue Management) to gain AA’s fair share of Leisure revenue leading to route success and strong account performance. Use specific Leisure performance reports and a broad range of programs within the Strategic Leisure purview to affect business performance. Maintains account profile information, sales initiatives and strategies in AA’s CRM tool, Sales Hub, and uses planning tools such as account and call planners. 

 

The Specialist, Leisure Sales has a solid understanding of net fare programs and more importantly, is able to grow leisure business in managed accounts as well as influence new business through new accounts. Maintains account profile information, sales initiatives and strategies in AA’s CRM tool, Sales Hub, and uses planning tools such as account and call planners.

 

This role also contributes valuable Chinese cultural experience to the product and communications development within AA Marketing Communications, Onboard Products and Reservations to ensure we deliver the highest level of service to the Chinese customer.

Job Qualifications

  • Mandarin and/or Cantonese language and cultural skills
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
  • 3-5 years successful B2B sales experience and/or industry experience
  • Understanding of Leisure net programs
  • Must be able to read, write, fluently speak and understand the English language
  • Understanding and execution of value-based selling competencies
  • Highly developed interpersonal as well as organizational skills required
  • Strong communication, negotiation and presentation skills to create strong AA relationships in the APAC community and increase performance / account penetration
  • Ability to work in a team environment with the Strategic Leisure leadership and interdepartmental stakeholders
  • Ability to travel 50-60% of the time
