The Software Engineer is responsible for maintaining, developing and documenting software products for the T-1A Flight Training Devices (FTD).

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

* Applies system analysis techniques and procedures, including consulting with subject matter experts, to determine software design changes to improve FTD performance and capability to support aircrew training, and to add functionality or correct deficiencies.

* Develops software/data solutions to simulator discrepancies identified by the customer.

* Ensures that all work products follow the Quality Management System (QMS) to include ISO 9000:2008.

* Creates rough order of magnitude estimates and change specifications upon request from the TSSC Manager, and attends design and status reviews with Government contracting personnel and management, as required.

* Creates, modifies, documents, and performs testing of source code and data, based on approved change specifications.

* Performs software integration and validation, writes acceptance test procedures and software installation instructions, and produces prototype software revisions.

* Performs configuration management of the FTD source code and data.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

* Presents ideas or suggestions on own initiative for design changes or methods of implementing a change that will result in an improvement in the overall fidelity of simulation.

* Travels as required.

* Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Ability:

* Ability to fluently read, write, speak and understand English.

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

* Basic knowledge of Aircrew Training Systems.

* Ability to program using Ada and C++ programming languages.

* Basic knowledge of the Unified Modeling Language and object oriented design methodologies.

* Basic knowledge of personal computers and software packages, including word processing, spreadsheets, ADA, and Microsoft Visual C++.

* Basic knowledge of simulator systems, structure, math models and implementation in real time digital flight simulation.

* Basic knowledge in aircraft systems to interpret U. S. Air Force technical orders and/or engineering data to transpose information into functional software equations or electromechanical circuitry to accomplish the desired modification.

* Proficient in simulator operation, all aspects of IOS and system operations. Able to initialize and fly all types of approaches, low-level missions, air-to-air refueling, Interactive Airport Environment (IAE), and networked/formation flights including proper setup of initial conditions, communications, navigation, flight plans, traffic settings, etc.

* Ability to successfully pass a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) by the U.S. Government.

Education and Formal Training:

Technical Associate’s degree in Computer Science or similar discipline with design experience in software or equivalent education, experience and training. Bachelor’s degree in math, aeronautical engineering, electrical engineering or physics is desired.

Experience:

Two years of experience in developing general dynamic flight simulation, software for commercial or military pilot training applications.
