Overview

Aerojet Rocketdyne in Redmond, WA is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer. At this location, we produce high complexity (low volume) satellite rocket engines and electric propulsion. In this role, you will lead manufacturing activities and work with a cross-functional team of engineers, as well as program management, assembly technicians, and test personnel to ensure quality manufacture of mechanical hardware. Responsibilities include manufacturing process development/maintenance, supplier support, work instruction creation, tool design, personnel training, process ownership, and management of hardware flow through production including budget and schedule.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

Working with limited general direction:

10% - Learning company systems and processes and performing a variety of complex manufacturing engineering tasks.

20% - Analyzing and interpreting engineering drawings and documents.

20% - Working on process improvements for our production systems.

20% - Writing work instructions and process instructions to successfully facilitate the build of flight quality hardware.

10% - Assisting in the development of process flows and risk analysis.

10% - Investigating problems which arise in the shops during fabrication or assembly and recommending solutions.

10% - Providing Shop Floor support. Mentor less experienced manufacturing engineering staff.

Requirements

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related major and at least 5 years of related experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience). Must have experience with electro-mechanical assembly and fabrication. Knowledge of machining, brazing, adhesive bonding, GTAW (gas tungsten arc welding), and EBW (electron beam welding) preferred. Experience in the aerospace industry is also highly desired. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to analyze, evaluate and develop solutions to technical problems with minimum supervision. Experience and familiarity with MS Office products required.

US Citizenship required. Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 15 pounds; may require minimal walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
