A leading aerospace manufacturing are recruiting for a Senior Buyer in their Portsmouth site, initially for 6 months, likely to be extended or temp to perm.
Reporting to the Supply Chain Section Leader you will be required to purchase a variety of commodities including raw materials, chemicals, machined components and systems with selected suppliers totalling a collective department spend of £12 million.
The role will be achieved by forging and maintaining business relationships with key suppliers and ensuring timely delivery of products and services which meet specifications and expectations (including quality and level of service) for the required cost.
The ideal candidate will have experience of working at a Senior level within a purchasing function from a background which includes manufacturing/engineering experience.
You will have a good understanding of the Commercial aspects of purchasing, agreement formulation and contract negotiations. A proven record of cost down experience will be necessary.
Candidates will possess confidence, be able to act on their own initiative, have good communication skills, be results driven and customer oriented.
The working shift pattern is as follows:
07.30hrs - 16.15hrs Mon to Thursday
07.30hrs - 16.00hrs every other Friday (9 day fortnight)
