Job Description

The role of the Business Systems Analyst is to work as a liaison between the business and technology teams in order to improve the products and services being delivered by the IT organization. 

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Develops thorough knowledge of assigned business area and Payroll system functions 
  • Works with business area to fully understand business objective and business requirements
  • Elicits business requirements from partners and translates them into functional specifications
  • Partners with business and with developers in designing functionality based on stated business requirements and system capabilities
  • Provides technical/functional consultative direction in identifying, evaluating and developing systems and procedures that are cost effective and meet user requirements
  • Prepares process flow diagrams and system diagrams describing current and to-be process
  • Prepares detailed technical specifications from which programs will be written 
  • Works with our business partners in troubleshooting and analyzing problems
  • Leads cross-functional teams to address business or system issues / solutions
  • May lead enhancement level and small to medium projects 
  • Develops project plans and timelines for small to medium projects
  • Supports team by assisting with: clarifying requirements, functionality questions, testing, implementation, and other deployment and delivery functions as assigned 
  • Serves as lead conduit between developers, architects and designers, and with internal business partner and/or vendor companies
  • Maintains effective levels of communication with team members, management, business areas and vendors
  • Provides guidance and direction to less experienced business systems analysts

Job Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in CS/CE/CIS/MIS/Engineering/Technology or related field or equivalent experience and/or training
  • 5+ years of Business Systems Analyst experience
  • Ability to work independently and manage one’s time (Required)
  • SAP experience with Payroll emphasis (Required)
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills 
  • Demonstrate experience in preparing detailed specifications
  • Detail oriented demonstrating initiative, follow-through, sound business judgment
  • Demonstrate ability to present information, project updates and interacting with various target audiences
  • Must be well organized, thrive in a sense-of-urgency environment, leverage best practices, and most importantly, innovate through any problem with a can-do attitude
  • Expert ability to plan strategically for current and future business environments, including future technology and business design changes to create flexible solutions
  • Expert knowledge of system flows, engineering documentation, tools and architecture concepts
  • Expert understanding of business systems and industry requirements and full technical knowledge of Systems Analysis
  • Demonstrate experience leading small to medium projects 
  • Agile or ACTIVATE experience  - a plus
  • HPQC experience a plus
  • Sharepoint experience a plus
