Oaklands Global is currently recruiting a Senior Backend Architect on behalf of our market leading UAV/Drone client based in France. This is a permanent position.

Our client are one of the world’s most experienced provider of drone-based solutions. Their solutions are used globally by customers in industries such as utilities, construction, agriculture, transportation, mining and oil & gas. 

The clients cloud platform ingests large amounts of aerial images as raw material to produce maps, 3D models and business analysis. We are looking for an experienced software architect to help take their platform to the next level. As the architect in their team, you will be instrumental in developing and executing the technical strategy for their API product. We’re looking for someone capable of diving deep into their existing architecture and help scale out their API and integrations platform to provide an excellent experience for their customers as well as system integration partners.

This is a very hands-on position, highly visible for someone who wants to build and maintain innovative and scalable solutions using the latest open source technologies (Docker, Consul, Vault, Nomad, ELK, MongoDB, … )

 

Roles and responsibilities:

• Define and execute the next generation of our API platform architecture.

• Plan and develop an API strategy that enables Integrations to be more seamless between their product and customer use cases.

• Oversee the architecture of backend services to deliver globally available and performant API services 

• Lead other engineers and also play significant role in influencing senior leadership on technical direction.

• Lead and mentor engineers across teams to provide better API development.

• Write and review code.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years as a software engineer/architect

• You are an expert on building scalable backend services, caching techniques, and performance optimisation

• You are an architect that also enjoys coding

• Experience maintaining APIs to be scalable/fault tolerant/performant using suitable technologies

• Working knowledge of software security

• Deep understanding of modern web and cloud system architecture (APIs, microservices, cloud computing).

• Strong bias towards continuous integration and deployment 

• Microservices architecture: designing, creating, deploying, testing and monitoring
